Is there a specific diet for people taking Mounjaro?

A varied diet with protein sources, fruit, vegetables and minimally processed foods is a starting point. Portions and adjustments depend on your needs and how well you tolerate foods. A joint advisory from nutrition and obesity organisations recommends individual nutritional care during GLP-1 treatment. Read the joint advisory.

Mounjaro is the brand name for tirzepatide, which acts on GIP and GLP-1 receptors. In Brazil, its approval for chronic weight management includes diet and physical activity under specific conditions. This does not establish one menu for everyone. See the indication approved by Brazil’s Anvisa (in Portuguese).

Start with the foods you already eat.

Bring your dietitian examples of your usual meals: breakfast at home, lunch at work, snacks and dinner. A concrete list helps you discuss practical adjustments.

Rice and beans, eggs, chicken, fish, milk or yoghurt, fruit and vegetables might come up, depending on your preferences and dietary restrictions. These examples help describe your routine; they are not a prescribed meal plan.

Details that make your food log more useful

  • For rice and beans, describe the amount served and check whether the selected food entry is cooked.
  • For eggs, chicken or fish, include how they were prepared. Log oils, sauces and side dishes too.
  • For yoghurt and other packaged foods, check the serving size and nutrition label.

The advisory also highlights protein and hydration. If reduced appetite or discomfort is making it difficult to eat and drink, speak with your treatment team. Read the nutritional priorities.

How to log lunch in BoraFit.

Imagine a plate of rice, beans, chicken and salad. The aim is to record what you actually ate.

  1. Take a photo or describe the food. Include quantities where you know them.
  2. Review the result. Preparation, oil and portion estimates may need correcting.
  3. Save the meal and check the total protein and other macros logged for the day.

Photo analysis is an estimate. Use food labels and weights when available, and edit anything that looks wrong. You can reuse a saved food in your next meal.

BoraFit also offers its own adaptive targets. These are not a prescription for Mounjaro treatment. Discuss changes to your plan with the professional looking after you.

What to bring to your next appointment.

  • Examples of meals you managed to eat and those you found difficult.
  • Questions about the protein and energy targets in your plan.
  • Entries that are incomplete or use estimated portions.

Your diary shows what you recorded. It does not diagnose nutritional deficiencies or assess symptoms. For more on protein, exercise and monitoring, read the guide to muscle mass and GLP-1.

Keep a record of your meals.
